Edra Toth's Academy of Dance & Music reflects the artistic vision of it's founder Edra Toth. With an extensive background in ballet, Ms. Toth was a Principal Dancer with the Boston Ballet by the age of 16 and was partnered by the the leading men including Rudolph Nureyev, Ivan Nagy, Edward Villella. With over 40 years of performance and teaching experience, Ms. Toth believes that the highest quality dance education can best be attained in an environment that is pleasant, personal and supportive.
It is the philosophy of the Academy that dance is an art form. Edra Toth's Academy of Dance & Music is NOT a competition or recital-driven school. Our dance classes focus on technique for the entire year. There are many opportunities for performance experience throughout the year. Auditions are held every September for the Nutcracker and an original full-length ballet is created every spring. Students can choose to participate or not. The Academy teaches it's students HOW TO DANCE.
Edra Toth's Academy of Dance & Music's goal is to help all students find the unique dancer inside of them. The Academy will not conform to arbitrary, artificial standards of perfection. Many students aim at professional dance careers, others enjoy dancing as recreation. The Academy appreciates and respects both of these purposes, and feels it can best serve the diversity of it's students by offering them the opportunity for a rich, life-long experience through serious training in a professional dance atmosphere.
